The reason for the incarnation primarily involved the purpose of His coming to earth—to die as a sacrifice for human sin. As Jesus hangs on the cross and on the verge of He utters what is perhaps the greatest word ever spoken. For John’s original readers and for us, it is a word filled with meaning in regard to His life, mission, and sacrifice.
